Star of Kindred Spirits and paranormal investigator Amy Bruni shares stories from her years of experiences with ghosts, organized around thirteen truths that guide her approach to the supernatural.
Amy Bruni, co-star of Kindred Spirits and one of the world's leading paranormal investigators, has learned a lot about ghosts over her years of research and first-hand experience. Now, in Life with the Afterlife, she shares the insight she has gleaned and how it has shaped her unique approach to interacting with the spirits of the dead and those who encounter them.
From her earliest supernatural encounters as a child, through her years appearing on Ghost Hunters and the creation of her company Strange Escapes, which offers paranormal excursions to some of America's most notoriously haunted destinations, and into her current work on The Travel Channel's Kindred Spirits, this book is full of astonishing and deeply moving stories of Amy's efforts to better understand the dead but not yet departed. With Amy's bright humor and fierce compassion for both those who are haunted and those who are haunting, Life with the Afterlife is an eye-opening look at what connects us as people, in life and beyond.
And now for something completely different...
So what is a semi-biographical book about ghost hunting doing on a historical romance book reviews blog? That's simple. While I do spend most of my time reading romances set in days gone by, I am also a HUGE fan of the various ghost hunting programs and Kindred Spirits ranks as my #1! When I saw that Amy had written a book about her life experiences exploring the supernatural, I simply had to grab a copy.
For many, MANY years now I've lived with my own set of spirits and on a few occasions lived in places with their own set of spirits that made their presences felt on a daily basis. Amy and her partner, Adam Berry's approach to dealing with those spirits on Kindred Spirits gave me a better understanding of how to deal with my own issues and in her book, Amy tells her own story about how she became interested in the paranormal and the things she has learned through years of investigations.
Unlike so many others, who are simply in it for the thrills, chills and using fear to boost their t.v ratings, Amy focuses on finding out who the spirits are, why they haven't moved on and what could be triggering their more aggressive behavior. In the book she goes in depth explaining the techniques and pieces of equipment that have worked the best for her when it comes to making that connection needed to find who a spirit was in life and by telling their story, hopefully helping them find their way into the next.
With fun stories about her early beginnings in the field, her experiences on the Ghost Hunters team, meeting fans and other enthusiast and behind the scenes stories from the cases showcased on Kindred Spirits, this book is not just a hitchhiker's guide to ghost hunting. It is great weekend read for anyone, whether you are a hard core skeptic or a true believer in the unknown.
